Art Forms Drama

Drama is one of the greatest confidence-builders for children. By incorporating drama into your classroom, home or other learning environment, you offer children rich and stimulating opportunities to explore, create and imagine.

ARTS:LIVE’s drama courses and activities take children through the fundamentals of performance, including the basics of movement and dialogue, sourcing materials and unlocking meaning in texts, character development and technical staging. There are also advanced courses to teach devised theatre, process drama and the development of site-specific works.

    Get excited about the world of language and the possibilities of sound. Poetry And Drama introduces the process of breaking down a poem for performance, and offers suggestions as to how you can explore the rich language in contemporary and traditional poems.

    Stories from Home

    Years 7-10, Secondary
    Ever wanted to learn more about the craft of theatre-making? Stories from Home will take you through a structured ten lesson project and by the end, you will have an original show. Students will draw on fictional diary entries from refugee characters to inform their devising, play building and assessment tasks.

    Years 1-6
    The gross, gory, funny and silly children's theatre-makers The Listies demonstrate how to create a show using improvisation, collaboration and a few quick deaths.

    Take your students through a journey of discovering the world behind the wonderful Australian childrens’ book “Too Many Cheeky Dogs”. Using process drama, step inside the very pages of the book and explore the colourful characters, animals and landscapes of the Australian outback.

    Designosaurs

    Years 3-8, Secondary
    Designosaurs is an inquiry based research course that invites students to choose a threatened species to research, construct and bring to life in an interactive puppet performance expo. Through the course students learn about puppet construction and puppeteering from members of the eye-popping visual theatre company - Erth.

    The Tree and the Key is an enchanting course that immerses young children in learning through the arts.
