Tips for success. Make your End-of-Year celebration shine with ARTS:LIVE

Get started on a creative end of year celebration this term! You can plan a fun and meaningful end-of-year performance or classroom celebration with help from ARTS:LIVE. ARTS:LIVE makes it easy with ready-to-go resources and expert tips to help you finish the year on a high note. 

Top tips for success: 

  1. Keep it simple – choose a format that suits your students’ confidence and creativity. 

  2. Start small – a short skit, group song or class artwork can be the spark needed to get everyone involved.  

  3. Make it memorable by mixing up performance styles – from solo or class to whole school contributions.  

  4. Add visual interest – use colourful costumes, simple instrumentation or body percussion, projections of student artwork as backdrops. 

  5. Celebrate everyone – create space for all learners to shine. 

  6. Practice – do a run in the performance space to get everyone familiar. 

  7. Have fun! It’s a celebration after all.

    Painting the Music

    3-5 Year Olds, Years 1-6
    Combine visual and performing art by using music to inspire what you draw and paint. Listen to a music track and paint how and what you are feeling or what images it evokes. Explore your creativity, sharpen your listening skills and understand the links between feelings, ideas and artwork.

    Years 3-8, Secondary
    Designosaurs is an inquiry based research course that invites students to choose a threatened species to research, construct and bring to life in an interactive puppet performance expo. Through the course students learn about puppet construction and puppeteering from members of the eye-popping visual theatre company - Erth.

    An Introduction to Hip Hop

    Years 5-10, Secondary
    An Introduction to Hip Hop provides the basis to start learning this contemporary and edgy dance. The history of the genre is examined to give context to the dance and to explain why the culture of the dance is so important to its evolution. This is the first of a series in which you will learn a wide range of movement skills and Hip Hop techniques so that you can eventually perform and devise your own choreography.

    Stories from Home

    Years 7-10, Secondary
    Ever wanted to learn more about the craft of theatre-making? Stories from Home will take you through a structured ten lesson project and by the end, you will have an original show. Students will draw on fictional diary entries from refugee characters to inform their devising, play building and assessment tasks.
