3 × 45 minute lessons
Years 3-8, Secondary
Song One

Song One is the third course in the Junk Percussion series for years 5 and 6 students and demonstrates how to play a song with multiple instrumental parts in a group ensemble.

The course provides step by step tutorials and musical scores for each instrument part and builds on the fundamental techniques and musical notation understandings covered in Junk Percussion Techniques. Through the lesson series students consolidate their understanding of tempo and rhythm and perform their song to an audience.

This course has been designed around instruments created in the Making Junk Percussion course including the bass drums, snare drums, shakers and bells. Standard classroom instruments can also be used.

Once students have mastered these fundamentals skills they can extend their percussion skills further by completing the Junk Percussion Sambaesque course.
